Giant Willow Sculptures &
Installations by Michelle Cain

Michelle Cain was
born in the Wirral, graduated from Preston polytechnic in 1985 with first
class honours in fine art, moved to Wales in 1993 where she first
learnt to weave willow and began making sculptures with groups for
festivals.
Michelle's work can now be seen
at festivals and beauty spots across Britain and Ireland. Her giant
sculptures have become regular visitors to the many annual music events
that take place during the summer, the most popular being Glastonbury
where the twenty foot tall figures majestically look out over the entire
festival from the Green Fields above the main site. Different colours
and sizes of willow are used to create the pieces. Her work is
recognised as outstanding and original, created at her hidden retreat in
rural West Wales surrounded by the landscape that inspires her.
As well as building her giant
willow sculptures Michelle also runs creative willow workshops teaching
the arts of basket making and sculpture building.
